PSL - Random Dictionary Word - Sherlockian

anagnorisis
\ an-ag-NAWR-uh-sis, -NOHR- \ , noun;
1.
(in ancient Greek tragedy) the critical moment of recognition or discovery, especially preceding peripeteia.

Mycroft didn't often lean on anything - it did hell on his clothes and really why would a minor government official be 'leaning' against a wall? It looked unbelievably unprofessional and sloppy. However, on his day off, he allowed himself the luxury of leaning against the stone edifice on Bridge St. He was, after all, wearing clothing that was about as casual that Mycroft Holmes could get - black courderoy slacks, a dark blue sweater, and of course sturdy walking shoes. The umbrella, naturally, was sitting right at his elbow.

Yes, naturally, he had his phone with him, but otherwise he looked like he was truly trying to have a day where he was simply off. He had cleared his schedule viciously and told Anthea that if he was going to be interrupted in the next four hours outside of nuclear wars, there would be Hell to Pay. Which was why he had the phone, and was currently typing a rather vicious text message to the Minister of Defense while he waited for Gregory - honestly man. Everyone knew that you didn't flinch in the face of Saudi Arabia. They were bullies with oil wells. He ordered him to go back into the meeting, and keep his chin up, like an Englishman.

"...Really going to have to speak to the Prime Minister about you..." He murmured to himself, as his long fingers tapped the keys quickly and bluntly.

[Lestrade makes a little huff here, partly in amusement and also partly in, well, understanding. Of sorts.]

We're in very different positions, so its not that much of a surprise. [Mycroft is... well, Mycroft, and Lestrade is just a DI. There are loads of DIs, but only one Mycroft Holmes.]
crimogen: I don't do everything he tells me to (stop bringing up Mycroft's name)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-04-28 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lestrade takes a moment to make something of a face to Mycroft here.]

Well, its not too bad, compared to Sherlock...
crimogen: driving happens to be a hobby (taking the wheel)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-04-29 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lestrade is a little surprised by the laugh, but he takes it in stride as best as he can.]

Well, you do have to admit that its hard to find anyone worse than Sherlock.

[And if he does find somebody aside from Mycroft, then god help them all.]
crimogen: a DI's job is never done (work work work)

urgh pardon my shitty tags x_x

[Well, Lestrade certainly didn't mean it that way, but if the shoe fits...]

There's a lot of grey areas in a lot of things. [Nothing's really ever so black and white, Lestrade has come to understand that most of all.] If everything was so black and white I'd be out of a job.
crimogen: the strangest thing I've ever experienced (christmas over at 221B baker street)

I just hope I don't become OOC ahahaha OTL

[Lestrade blinks at that last part, not surprised that Mycroft knows, but more surprised at the fact that he's asking Lestrade to talk about it. It's certainly strange, if anything... and relatively unexpected.]

It's nothing much. [He shrugs as he replies. It is the truth - sure, serial killers are always bad, but they're still a thing that exists and aren't, say, unicorns or whatnot.] Pretty sure I'd just bore you with the details.
crimogen: stop probing me already Sherlock (I just became single again)

u_u I do not deserve such praise.

[Lestrade purses his lips a little here. He really isn't the kind of guy who likes to blow on his trumpet, but it is nice to be appreciated every one in a while. And well, Mycroft was asking for it, yeah? So it wouldn't hurt to give him an answer he's satisfied with.]

Well, if you insist. [And here he launches into the story of how he managed to solve his last case, though ht still does go to summarize stuff as effectively as possible so as not to get too long winded. Mycroft is smart enough anyway, Lestrade is sure that the man can grasp the finer details quickly enough.]
crimogen: just another day really (to the crime scene)

/lies down forever

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-01 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Its surprising how interested Mycroft really is in the story - Lestrade had just assumed the man was just amusing him, but the more he went at it the more it seemed that the interest was actually genuine. And that's... well, Lestrade isn't sure what to make of it. Besides 'flattering', possibly, but that alone was a bit much.

He nods at the question, continuing.]
Yeah, well. Couldn't just let him get away, and if he escaped now it'd be hard to get him again without having to ask Sherlock. So I just did what I had to do.
crimogen: hard to emulate those cheekbones (this is my Sherlock face)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-02 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lestrade just gives a half shrug here.] Lucky break, I guess. Just one of those times where somehow things just managed to work in my favor.

[Which is a really good thing, since otherwise he might be in a surgery now still recovering or something. Which really isn't that all good.]
crimogen: the strangest thing I've ever experienced (christmas over at 221B baker street)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-03 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hey what's with that response!!]

Generally, yeah? Something like that, anyway. [It's kind of luck and some experience and a while load of other things, but Lestrade will just chalk it up to luck. It's easier that way.] Not everyday where you chase a wanted criminal and come out out it unscathed, as you said.
crimogen: of course he is (is Sherlock here already)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-04 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lestrade just kind of shrugs, again, not really wanting to argue over the minute differences. Won't do much to help, anyway, and what's done is done.]

Well, luck or experience, both helped me either way. I'm just glad it was solved before any more people got hurt.
crimogen: stop probing me already Sherlock (I just became single again)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-05 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[A little modesty never hurt anyone, Mycroft. Especially not when being complacent here never really ends well for anybody. Lestrade's seen that far enough times already.]

While the clean up's still happening, yeah. [He'll have to return eventually, to deal with the formal paperwork and everything, but until then he has time at least.] Possibly about a week, if the Met's being generous enough. [Or unless a new criminal rears his/her head, which can easily happen as well.]
crimogen: no I am not a ghostfacer (did I just see a ghost pass by)

[personal profile] crimogen 2014-05-06 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lestrade just kind of shrugs once more. It's kind of a habit of his, really.]

Nothing much. Get some much needed rest, maybe clean up a little. I should be free for anything you have in mind.
